In an exclusive training session with the MWL Pakistan team, Dr Ghazala Qadri talked about the major challenges and issues regarding teamwork in organizational life. She pinpointed some problems that often exist and can be avoided if recognized and are given due focus and attention.
She said that good team work and result oriented work depends on overcoming the barriers of trust between colleagues. She advised the team to be open in asking others for help, when needed by overcoming the shyness in one's personality.
Dr Ghazala also said that sometimes we find it easier to do all the tasks on our own, instead of involving other colleagues and members. It can be because of many reasons, for instance a person can consider oneself more qualified to do the work or maybe she is a perfectionist in her personality. In either case, she advised them to give time for training of the teams working under their supervision and also to be patient and considerate by understanding people in their context. She said that "even being a perfectionist, you must be a realist and don't let someone feel inferior, instead, train them to improve in the relevant area of working.
Towards the end she also said that one major challenge of teamwork is the natural desire of seeking appreciation for oneself. Regarding this, she advised the teams to be open by giving space to others and give due credit to the supporting members, where needed.
It was followed by a Q&A session after which Irfan-ul-Hidayah (a department of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League Pakistan) presented the 4th Para of Holy Quran, being translated into a unique style with textual translation of each word.
