Islamic teachings about respect of mothers are crystal-clear: MWL

Central President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League Mrs. Farah Naz has said that no society can deny the importance of teachings that Islam has given with regards to respect for the blood relations. She said that the greatness of the parents in general and that of the mother, in particular, cannot be emphasized enough. He said that the Holy Quran contains manifest commandments with regard to the excellence of treatment one is required to mete out to one’s parents. He said that Islam has given special importance to the fulfillment of the rights of the mother and used the example of a mother to make a man understand Allah’s love for His subjects. She said that the meaning of paradise being underneath the feet of the mother is that one should never slacken in serving one’s mother, stating that this will eliminate the disorder found in our lives.

Mrs. Farah Naz made these remarks while addressing a ceremony held in connection with the International Mothers’ Day under the banner of MWL here at the central secretariat in Lahore yesterday. Sidra Karamat, Ayesha Mubashar, Amina Batool, Zainab Arshad, Kalsoom Tufail and other women were present on the occasion.

Mrs. Farah Naz said that Hazrat Owais Qarni set the benchmark of absolute love and dedicated service towards his mother, which is a beacon of light for humanity. By acting upon his example, the Muslim world can revive the weakening bond of love with their blood relations. She said that Islam gives special importance to the role of mothers in bringing up their children. She said that the family system has been badly affected in this materialism-driven age with the result that the respect of the parents is being reduced to a ritual; old homes are becoming the last abode for the elderly while the children are busy in reaping the worldly rewards. He said that there is a dire need that the young are taught about respect and love of their parents.
