A meeting of central executive council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, which was held in Lahore today, condemned the suicide attacks on the office of District Police Officer in Dera Ismail Khan through a unanimously adopted resolution. The participants of the meeting expressed their grave concern on the prevailing law and order situation in the country. They were of the view that the situation of clash among the institutions was the outcome of the incumbent electoral system. The office holders of MQI from across the country expressed their serious reservations about the electoral system.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that the current situation of the country had perturbed every Pakistani and had grave implications for Pakistan’s security and national economy. He said that MQI had its belief in democracy but added in the same context that what was being done was not democracy.
Dr Abbasi said that the special meeting of Majlis-e-Shura to be held on Sunday would discuss the prevailing security situation in detail and Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri would declare the future course of action of MQI afterwards. He assured that MQI and its leadership would continue to play its role and guide the nation in the difficult circumstances the country is caught in.
Dr Abbasi said that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri would address the meeting of Majlis-e-Shura. Around 1500 office holders of MQI from across the country would participate in the meeting.
